Did you know that LOVE Spokane
has provided over 3,000 hours of community service
to the city of Spokane?! LOVE Spokane 2010 is almost
here. All of the organizations we worked with last
year are so excited to have us back again. Every year
we make such an impact in just one little day and
this year we're hoping to add a couple more sites
to volunteer at. So make sure you plan to be a part
of this event again or for the first time. As always,
we will need a site leader at each spot. If you think
you would be willing to serve in this way, please
let us know. In case this is the first time you have
participated, here are the basics:
We meet at the building between 8:30 and 9 am. Everyone
is organized into their volunteer groups and we carpool
to our sites. Lunch is delivered to your site and
you get to take a break to eat with the people you
are working alongside. At the end of the day we all
meet back at the building for a community dinner feeling
good about a day of work entirely dedicated to someone
else. We're looking forward to another great LOVE
Spokane day! Talk with Dave or James if you have any
questions.

CANS
FOR KIDS
Cans
for Kids: We continue to recycle aluminum cans.
This past month we were able to recycle 174 pounds
of cans @$.45/lb for a total of $78.30. Thanks to
all who contribute to this effort.
You can contribute to this effort by bringing your
aluminum cans and leaving them by the light pole at
the foot of the ramp.
The money from this ministry goes to
buy food for kids in the Philippines.

The
actions we take today can positively impact the lives
of people living continents away. Eternal Threads,
a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is weaving connections
between us and village craftswomen in diverse areas
of the world, who share our same needs and hopes for
the future. Because they live in extreme poverty,
these women need a means of income to care for their
families; preventing their children from suffering
the lack of nutrition, health care, education, shelter,
and the possibility of being exploited or trafficked.
These items are for sale-- indigenous handicrafts,
made by these women, involving threads of one kind
or another…wool, silk, cotton, raffia, cording for
jewelry, and others. By giving these women a sustainable
income we weave threads of hope and justice into their
lives and generations beyond. Visit www.eternalthreads.com
for more information.
