We have $500 a month for six months donated toward a part-time children's minister.
If we had $2,000 a month more, we could hire them full-time and get a lot more going.

Children's Minister, part-time position
10 hours/week
A. QUALIFICATIONS
1. Two to Five years experience working with children's ministries.
2. Understanding of Christian education within the local church.
3. Ability to develop and lead creatively children's programs and ministries
which equip parents.
4. Ability to recruit, motivate and equip children's teachers and workers.
5. Endorse and support the mission and goals of the Northside Church of Christ.
6. Evidence an evangelistic spirit, honoring God by making more disciples
for Jesus Christ.
7. Support the Restoration Movement for which Northside Church of Christ stands.
8. Remain a member in good standing of Northside Church of Christ.
B. RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Children's Ministries is responsible for the ministry to children from birth through grade five and to their families. The primary objectives are to educate and disciple children and to resource parents and families in order to assist them to develop positive Christian homes.
1. Recruit, equip, and retain teachers and workers for children's ministry.
2. Develop and oversee curriculum selection process.
3. Communicate intellectual, experiential, and spiritual goals to children,
teachers, helpers, and parents.
4. Oversee room use and program equipment selection for use in children's
ministry programs.
5. Maintain personal participation in children's programs and develop personal
contacts with children and their families.
6. Communicate a vision of children's ministry and integrate it with overall
discipleship ministry to the congregation
7. Direct VBS: Oversee the selection of curriculum, schedule (dates, time
of day), and stewardship of allocated budget;
8. Provide care and nurturing of children's workers, devising ways to affirm
and encourage them (monthly meetings, devotionals, etc.)
9. Work with the elders to screen children's workers and leaders before placing
them in ministry.
a. Have everyone complete an application and sign a release form for a police
background check. This is a safety precaution for the children's sake. Plus,
many insurance companies now require such procedures in order to insure the
church against liability relating to misconduct.
b. Proceed with background check and file results in a confidential folder
to be kept in a locked file cabinet in the church office.
c. Approve or disapprove workers and leaders for service in the children's
ministry.
d. Investigate any complaints regarding children's ministry workers. Discuss
complaints/problems with workers when warranted. Document and report serious
matters to elders and proper authorities.
10. Approve all children's ministries programs, curricula, activities and
disbursement of funds for supplies and projects, keeping within budgeted amount.
11. Work with children's church leader and K.F.C. leader to plan weekly programs
and participate as needed.
12. Attend staff meetings.
13. Work with other members of staff on projects.
14. Participate in training opportunities as offered.
C. RELATIONSHIPS
1. Reports to the elders. We ask that you keep track of what you work, so
that we may know where adjustments need to be made.
2. Works with ministry teams related to children's and family ministry.
3. Supervise children's ministry volunteers.
4. Coordinates with other members of the church staff.
5. Realize that some weeks may require more than 10 hours, and some weeks
require less.
